It's December Workshop Time!!

We will be learning about Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Guadalupe Day. We will learn what countries celebrate these holidays and how they are celebrated. We are going to be making a pine cone Christmas tree, a present to give, a family tree, a wooden dreidel, and a puppet of Juan Diego and Lady Guadalupe.

Planning Meeting!

There is going to be a planning meeting on Jan. 2nd at 1:00pm at the Columbia Street Baptist Church. It is ok to bring your children. At this meeting we will be discussing what we are going to be doing for the spring session in our 4H group. Come and give your ideas and vote on what classes you want to be offered next session. Please come and let your voices be heard!

Volunteer Ongoing Learning and Training class!

There is going to be a Volunteer Ongoing Learning and Training class on Jan. 13th at the Penobscot County extension office from 9am - 3pm. I recommend all parents and teenagers to go. It does not cost anything to take the class. It is a great way to learn more about 4H and if you ever want to teach a class with 4H members, this training is required. It is also nice to have this extra certification under your belt. Snacks are provided but you would need to pack a lunch. If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity please call 942-7396 to sign up.

Pizza Hut Value Card Program!

The Cloverbuds are going to be doing the Pizza Hut Value Card Fundraising program in January. When we have the cards I will be asking each parent if their child would like to try to sell some cards. Each card has 6 coupons for a free medium pizza with the purchase of a large and 6 coupons for $5.00 off any purchase over $15.00. We are going to sell the value cards for $8.00 each. This will give us a profit of $5.00 per card to help pay for supplies we need for all of our activities.

Newsletter 1

Welcome Cloverbuds!

I am so excited to see you all again and meet the newcomers! Our group has a new name this year. We are now called Penobscot Valley Homeschool Adventurers! And we have some great adventures planned for you this year. We will start our year off with a fantastic field trip to Birdsacre in Ellsworth on September 19th. We will be learning and experimenting with the following topics for this session.
Oct. 10 Healthy Lifestyle - Safe At Home
Oct. 24 Plants and Animals - Ant Antics
Nov. 14 Consumerism/Family Science - Just the Food Facts, Ma'am
Nov. 28 Science/Technology - Making Air work
Dec. 12 Holiday Workshop
Jan. 9 Community Expressive Arts - Storytelling
Jan. 23 Personal Development - Celebrations Around the World

Our club times are changing a little this year. We will still begin announcements at 1:15pm in the fellowship hall. Then we will do our club activities from 1:30 to 2:15pm. We will then go to gym at 2:20pm and then break for projects at 2:45pm. For safety reasons, no one is allowed to leave a room without a leader with them. Everyone will be escorted to gym, project classes and to the announcement area at the end of the meeting.

The Cloverbud Clothesline will be hung up in the announcement area next to the Cloverbud table. All of the projects you do in club time will be attached to this clothesline with a clothespin with your name on it. There will also be parent letters and handouts for you to bring home. Don't forget to check the Cloverbud Clothesline at the end of each meeting to collect your masterpieces and papers!

There is an attendance sheet on the Cloverbud table for you to put a sticker on next to your name at the beginning of each meeting. If you have perfect attendance for the year, you will get an award at the yearend program. Lets see if we can increase our numbers from last year!!
